1. The Prophets

Baba Vanga

Baba Vanga was a Bulgarian prophet who claimed to have gained the ability to see the past and the future after being swept away in a storm and losing her sight. Her prophecies were very abstract, leaving a lot of room for interpretation, and like most prophets, they were of a distant future that could not be proven, so they were not to be blindly trusted. Her prophecies even contradicted each other, so it seems she just said whatever came to mind. After World War II, many Bulgarian politicians and leaders, including Leonid Brezhnev, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, sought her advice. After Donald Trump's election, her past prophecy that "a Black American president will be the last" also gained attention.

Monk Tanheo

Monk Tanheo was a prominent high-ranking monk of the 20th-century Korean Buddhist community and a scholar who fully translated and annotated the Buddhist scripture, the Avatamsaka Sutra, into Korean. He was famous for his philosophy that integrated the three major Eastern philosophies—Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism—and was sometimes called the "Nostradamus of the East" for his extraordinary foresight and prophetic abilities. He gained much attention for predicting major historical events, such as the outbreak of the Korean War in 1949. He also accurately foretold the defeat of the United States in the Vietnam War in the 1970s and was regarded as an insightful observer of his time for his predictions of Korea's future development. His scholarly devotion and prophetic insights left a profound impact not only on Buddhism but also on Eastern philosophy and future prediction studies.

2. Life

Baba Vanga On April 8, 1942, Tsar Boris III of Bulgaria visited her house personally to ask for her counsel.With her consent, Bogdan Tomalevski, a Bulgarian architect and writer (1924–2012), built the St. Petka Orthodox Church, where she was laid to rest after she died of breast cancer in August 1996.Countless crowds and politicians attended her funeral to mourn her death.Whether she left a final will is unknown, but the house in Petrich where she lived was converted into a museum, and her previous house is currently managed by the Bulgarian government.

Monk Tanheo (1913–1983), also known by his birth name Kim Geum-taek, was a highly revered Korean Buddhist monk and scholar. He was a master of not only Buddhist scriptures like the Avatamsaka Sutra but also Confucianism, Taoism, and the I Ching. This vast knowledge earned him the nickname the "Nostradamus of the East." He was known for his prophetic abilities, having accurately predicted significant events such as the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950 and the defeat of the US in the Vietnam War. His most notable achievement was the complete translation and annotation of the Avatamsaka Sutra into Korean, making it accessible to a wider audience. He also played a key role in the reconstruction of Woljeongsa Temple. Tanheo’s legacy is preserved today through the Tanheo Memorial Museum and the work of his disciples.

3. List of Prophecies

3.1. Correct Prophecies

Baba Vanga

• 1996: She prophesied that she would prepare for her funeral on August 11. This was her actual date of death.

• 2000: The Kursk will sink in August, and the whole world will mourn it.

• 2001: "The American brothers will be attacked by two iron birds." "Wolves will howl in the bushes, and innocent blood will gush forth." → 9/11 attacks.

• 2004: Cold places will get warm, and volcanoes will erupt. A huge wave will cover the fields, and all people and villages will go under the water. → 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami.

• 2009: The 44th U.S. President will be an African American. → Barack Obama was elected the 44th U.S. President in 2009. His father was actually a Kenyan.

• 2020: The U.S. President will get a mysterious illness. → Donald Trump tested positive for COVID-19.

• 2021: The world will suffer from upheaval and disaster, and three giants will unite. → The continuation of COVID-19, the rise of COVID-19 variants, and the new military alliance between the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia.

• 2022: People will get used to a new virus.

Monk Tanheo

• 1949: He accurately predicted the outbreak of the Korean War, including the year, date, and even the time.

• 1970s: He foretold America's involvement in the Vietnam War and its defeat.

• 1960s: He warned of the Uljin-Samcheok armed communist infiltration incident.

• 1979: He prophesied the death of President Park Chung-hee.

• 1995: He accurately foretold the Great Hanshin earthquake in Kobe, Japan, as a disaster that would occur 12 years after his death.

• He is also famous for accurately predicting the date of his own passing.

3.2. Ambiguous or Partially Correct Prophecies

• 2018: China will become a new powerhouse. Comment: It is true that China has emerged as a new powerful nation. "Powerhouse" does not necessarily mean being #1. Both the #1 and #2 positions can be seen as a powerhouse.

• 2022: Endless natural disasters will occur, and many lives will be lost. Comment: If an epidemic like COVID-19 is considered a natural disaster, then this prophecy is not wrong.

• 2023: The Earth's orbit will change. Comment: Baba Vanga's prophecy of a "change in the Earth's orbit" is more realistically interpreted as a physical change to the Earth that includes a shift in its axial tilt rather than a change in its orbital path. Scientific research from a Seoul National University team in June 2023, which found that the rapid increase in groundwater extraction is changing the axial tilt, supports this. In Monk Tanheo's prophecies, a major change in the Earth's axis and environment is expected to begin in the mid-2030s with the melting of glaciers. Therefore, Baba Vanga's 2023 prophecy signifies the initial signs of these changes, and it is scientifically and prophetically appropriate to adjust the period of the full-scale great upheaval to after the mid-2030s. In other words, it is reasonable to view 2023 as the starting point of the change and to adjust the major period of change to the mid-to-late 2030s.

3.3. Incorrect or Only Partially Correct Prophecies

• 2008: The leaders of four countries will attempt assassinations, which will soon become the cause of World War III.

• 2010: World War III will break out.

• 2011: Nuclear fallout from World War III will cover the northern hemisphere, making it impossible for any animals or plants to survive. Afterwards, Islam will wage war with the Europeans who survived the chemical weapons.

• 2014: Many people will get skin cancer and skin diseases. → The Ebola virus broke out in Africa, causing many people to get skin diseases.

• 2016: Europe will become a wasteland.

• 2019: A massive earthquake will occur, a tsunami will sweep through parts of Asia, a great meteor will collide in Russia, an attempt will be made on the Russian president's life, the U.S. president's eyesight will be damaged, and his family will be injured in a car accident.

• 2022: An unusual phenomenon on Jupiter will affect Earth.

• 2023: A nuclear power plant explosion as serious as the Chernobyl disaster will occur. People will no longer have children.

• 2024: While some parts were correct, most of the prophecies were wrong.

After Adjusting the Prophecy Timeline

• Post-2100s: The possibility of a full-scale World War III (originally 2008-2011).

• Mid-2020s to 2030s: Europe becomes a wasteland (originally 2016).

• 2020-2025: Period of expanding pandemic, political, and military crises (originally 2019's complex disaster).

• After the mid-to-late 2030s: The possibility of a major nuclear power plant accident (originally 2023).

• 2040s-2050s: Arctic ice melt and major global environmental upheaval (originally 2033).

2025: Europe will be rebuilt little by little.

2028: Humanity will find new energy, and hunger will cease. Humanity will succeed in sending people to Venus.

In the prophecies of Monk Tanheo, the 2020s and 2030s are centered on a "catastrophic upheaval" and the birth of a new order. An ultra-high-tech, energy revolution and a crewed mission to Venus in 2028 are considered premature in reality.

Adjustment needed: 2028 → Mid-to-late 21st century to 22nd century (post-2150 is considered more plausible).

2033: The polar ice caps will melt, and sea levels will rise.

Monk Tanheo mentioned the 'complete melting of polar glaciers and global upheaval' as a major turning point of the 21st century. The latest science (as of 2025) suggests the possibility of Arctic ice melting between 2030 and 2050, but the 'complete melting' and a full-scale shift of the Earth's axis are more likely to occur in the late 2030s to mid-2050s.

Adjustment needed: 2033 → 2040s-2050s.

2043: Europe will come under the influence of Islam.

Monk Tanheo predicted a new post-war order, a drastic population decrease, and cultural reorganization, but did not specify the Islamization of Europe at a certain year. The timing for such a civilizational reorganization or cultural conflict is also expected to be after the melting of the glaciers.

Adjustment needed: 2043 → 2050s-2100s (lack of specific evidence, timing is vague).

2046: All body tissues will become manufacturable, and replacement therapy will become the most effective treatment.

Current research in regenerative medicine, 3D bioprinting, and stem cells is advancing rapidly. It's possible that customized human tissue manufacturing and replacement therapy could become commonplace by the mid-to-late 2040s, but full commercialization and widespread adoption are more realistically pushed to the early-to-mid 2050s.

Recommended adjustment: Close to 2046 but slightly expanded to 2045-2055.

2066: The United States will attack a Rome ruled by Muslims with a new artificial climate weapon.

Current technology for artificial climate (geoengineering, climate weapons) is in the early research stages. Large-scale application is not realistic due to international regulations and technological limitations. The possibility of climate weapons remains uncertain for a considerable period, and geopolitical situations are highly volatile.

Recommended adjustment: While 2066 can be kept as a symbolic future date, it's more realistic to place this event post-2070s or as unspecified given the technical and political complexities.

2076: Humanity will become a perfectly egalitarian society, equal in wealth and status.

Even with rapid advancements in socioeconomics, AI, and automation, achieving a perfectly egalitarian society could be significantly delayed by sociocultural factors and complexity. However, a widespread push for radical equality could intensify in the late 21st century, so the original timing can be maintained.

Recommended adjustment: Keep the original 2070s-2090s.

2084: Nature will be restored.

2088: A new disease will appear that causes rapid aging in seconds.

While research on the aging mechanism is active, whether an extreme disease like this will appear is unpredictable. However, the possibility of viral and biological risks and mutations always exists. Problems with infectious diseases and genetic mutations could become increasingly dangerous from the late 21st century onward.

Recommended adjustment: Keep the range of 2080-2100, with biological safety threats remaining a constant concern.

2097: Rapid aging will be stopped.

Current research in aging, regenerative medicine, and gene-editing technologies is progressing quickly, and it is projected that overcoming the aging problem is highly possible by the end of the 21st century or early 22nd century.

2100: The artificial sun will be able to light up the night on Earth.

Monk Tanheo's prophecies did not directly mention an 'artificial sun' or 'energy revolution,' but it is reasonable to place such a leap in super-scientific civilization after the 22nd century (the scientific community is skeptical of its realization within the 21st century).

Adjustment needed: 2100 → Post-22nd century (2200s).

2111: People will become robotic.

2123: There will be wars between small countries, but major powers will not intervene.

2125: Hungary will receive a signal from space.

2130: Mars humanity will become independent, and underwater colonies will be established.

2164: Animals will become half-human.

2167: A new religion will be born.

2170: Droughts will become severe.

2183: The Mars colony will acquire nuclear weapons and demand independence from Earth.

2187: Two volcanoes will stop large-scale eruptions.

2195: Oceanic cities will be fully developed, providing abundant resources and food.

2196: Asians and Europeans will be completely intermixed.

2201: The sun's nuclear fusion process will slow down, and temperatures will drop.

2221: During the search for extraterrestrial life, humanity will make contact with something horrifying.

2256: A forgotten space vessel will bring a new terrifying disease to Earth.

2262: Planets will gradually change their orbits, and Mars will be threatened by a comet collision.

2271: A reset will occur where existing physical constants change.

2273: A mixed yellow race will appear.

2341: Something horrifying will approach Earth from space.

2354: An accident will occur with one of the artificial suns, causing a drought.

2371: A great famine will occur.

2378: A rapidly growing new race will appear.

2480: Two artificial suns will collide, and twilight will fall on the earth.

3005: A war will occur on Mars. The planet will be knocked out of its orbit.

3010: A comet will collide with the moon. Stones and dust will form a ring around the Earth.

3797: Earth will be destroyed because of the artificial sun. Humanity will live in another planetary system.

3803: The population on the new planet will increase little by little, contact between people will decrease, and the climate of the new planet will induce mutations in humans.

3805: A war will break out over resources, and half of the people will die.

3815: The war will end.

3854: The development of civilization will almost stop. People will live in groups like beasts.

3871: A new prophet will preach about religion and moral values.

3874: The new prophet will be supported by all of humanity and will organize a new religion.

4302: New cities will grow in the world, and the new religion will encourage new technology and scientific development. With the advancement of science, scientists will have uncovered all the processes by which diseases affect living things.

4304: A way to overcome any disease will be found.

4308: Due to mutations, people will use more than 34% of their brains and will have completely lost the concepts of evil and hatred.

4509: Humanity will be so advanced that it can talk to God, and eternal life will be realized.

4599: Humans will achieve immortality.

4674: The development of civilization will reach its climax, the number of humans living on other planets will be about 340 billion, and they will assimilate with aliens.

5076: The end of the universe's boundary, no one knows what it is.

5078: Humans may be able to reach the end of the universe's boundary, but 40% of humanity is against it.

5079: The entire universe will be destroyed.
